Alexis Boardman

Alexia Musica
Alexis Boardman was born in Palma de Mallorca, Spain to a Spanish father and English mother. He comes from a musical family as both his father and uncle were trained singers and pianists. His great aunt on his mother’s side was also an accomplished singer and sang in the Eisteddfod festival in Wales. His mother was an artist and photographer and shared an interest in photography with his father. Despite coming from a musical family he did not pick up a musical instrument until he was a teenager. Before that time his interest was in fine arts. As a child he had received numerous awards for art both in England and the U.S. His family’s love of travel meant that before he finished school he had lived in six different countries. This led him to gain an appreciation for different cultures and musical styles and a desire to knock down musical barriers. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2001 he studied privately for five years with world renowned jazz trombonist and teacher Hal Crook. Prior to Berklee he had spent three years in Mallorca studying with Gabriel Rosales. Today he makes his home in Catalonia where he teaches music professionally and works as a freelance transcriber. He also performs with his quartet in the Barcelona area.
